Same-Forest Scenarios
  • Exchange 2007 Source Environment
    • Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010:  Not Supported
      • Exchange 2007 and 2010 both use the same database architecture.
      • Use public folder replicas instead.
    • Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013:  Supported
    • Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2016:  Not Supported
      • Exchange 2016/2019 cannot be installed in the same Active Directory Forest as Exchange 2007
    • Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2019:  Not Supported
      • Exchange 2016/2019 cannot be installed in the same Active Directory Forest as Exchange 2007
  • Exchange 2010 Source Environment
    • Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2010:  Not Supported
      • Use public folder replicas instead.
    • Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013:  Supported
      • Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016:  Supported
    • Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2019:  Not Supported
      • Exchange 2019 cannot be installed in the same Active Directory Forest as Exchange 2010.
      • Will require a “double hop” migration, once from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016, then from Exchange 2016 to Exchange 2019
  • Exchange 2013/2016/2019 Source Environments:  Not Supported
    • Not supported by Priasoft. Use Microsoft “Move Mailbox” tools to move public folder mailboxes between databases.
  • Office 365 Hybrid-mode, technically, is not a same-forest setup.  See Office 365 section below.
